Five friends. A holiday house on the Black Lake. And one summer none of them has ever forgotten - however hard they have tried. Decades later, Jonas returns to the place of their childhood, and one by one Clara, David, Mia and Leon find their way back too. What begins as a reunion becomes a reckoning with an old lie: that summer, a boy drowned in the lake. An accident, they said. But each of the five carries their own version of those days - and their own silence. Through shifting perspectives, letters and memories, the truth of what really happened slowly takes shape. An atmospheric, many-voiced novel about guilt, friendship and the stories we tell ourselves in order to keep living.
