Thirty years after Jonah Rook disappeared, his name appears in fresh ink at Eleanor Vale's funeral.

Mara Vale returns to Bellweather expecting nothing more than grief, paperwork, and the settling of an old estate.

Then she sees the condolence book.

Jonah Rook—a boy missing for three decades—has signed it.

Several mourners swear they saw him inside the church.

Each remembers him standing in a different place.

And every photograph shows those places empty.

As Mara digs into Eleanor's private records, she uncovers erased names, contradictory death entries, hidden burial evidence, and a family history that has been rewritten for years.

The deeper she goes, the less certain she becomes that the dead are the only ones being misidentified.

Bellweather has spent thirty years preserving the wrong names.

Now something wants them corrected.

The Name Among the Mourners is the first Vale Inheritance Mystery, an atmospheric mystery of buried secrets, false identities, old records, and a haunting that refuses to let the past remain hidden.
