She swore off love.
He was chasing the dream that might take him away.
Neither expected one summer to change everything.
Naomi Bennett came to Miami with one goal: build a future she could be proud of.
After a devastating betrayal by the man she once trusted with her heart, she left Atlanta behind and started over at the University of Miami. Now she's focused on nursing school, her scholarship, and the life she's determined to create.
Love?
That can wait.
Then she meets Eli Washington.
He's talented, stubborn, quietly ambitious—and spending his nights creating music while his powerful father pressures him to pursue a career he doesn't want.
Their first meeting is anything but romantic.
She walks into his recording studio soaking wet.
Then she insults his music.
He can't believe her nerve.
She can't believe his attitude.
But somehow, the two strangers become friends.
Late-night study sessions become beach walks.
Arguments become inside jokes.
Coffee runs become excuses to see each other.
And somewhere between the music, the laughter, and the warm Miami nights, friendship starts turning into something neither of them can ignore.
Something real.
But Naomi's past isn't finished with her.
Her ex, Darius, suddenly reappears—and brings secrets Naomi never knew existed.
What she thought was a simple betrayal begins to look like something much darker.
Old family secrets emerge.
Missing people.
Hidden money.
A dangerous conspiracy.
And evidence suggesting Naomi's heartbreak may have been part of a plan all along.
Now the woman who promised herself she'd never trust another man is falling for the one man she may not be able to keep.
And Eli has a choice of his own.
The music career he's dreamed about could finally take him from Miami to Los Angeles.
Naomi is finally learning to trust again.
Their summer is running out.
And someone is determined to make sure they don't get a future together.
Because sometimes the love you never planned is the love that changes your entire life.
