Description & Overview
It is 10 years after the death of George Floyd. Frustrated by America's attempts to rewrite and erase Black history, and by the rising injustice against Black Americans, Maya and her millennial friends are determined to stand up by making a drastic change in their lives and joining the New Africa Movement. The New Africa Movement or NAM follows a radical idea for Blacks to discover and connect with their African roots and relocate from the US to their original homeland in Africa. And a U.S. Government policy is in place that allows African Americans to trace their bloodlines to their African origin for free using advanced DNA techniques. The mission of NAM is to establish a Black American-African community in West Africa that will benefit everyone. But not everyone is on board with Maya and her alliance to the NAM. Her best friend Jordan is one of the leaders of NAM and an influential lawyer who Maya idolizes. But Maya is steady, grounded, and adores her husband Kenyatta who is moving up in his advertising career. But Maya suspects he is being unfaithful and wants to keep him happy at any cost. Will she continue to go forward in her dreams of a tribal connection and personal fulfillment, or will her career, her emotional insecurities and family ties in the US keep her here and unfulfilled?
