Description & Overview

Book II — Throne of Stars

Long Description

Three months after leaving medieval Earth, Caelan and his three unlikely knights are finally returning to the world he once called home.

But the journey back to Aetherion Prime is not a homecoming.

It is a return to a graveyard.

Once the heart of a mighty empire ruled by Cael'ryn Valos, Aetherion Prime has been devastated by war. The civilization Caelan spent centuries building lies in ruins, its ancient towers silent and its throne abandoned. Yet beneath the destruction, something is still waiting for him.

At his side are Rowan, Brandt and Ysabel—three medieval knights who have left behind everything they have ever known. They have survived castles, battles and the impossible revelation that their lord is actually the last king of a fallen galactic empire. Now they must learn to survive among starships, alien technology and weapons capable of destroying worlds.

For Rowan, Brandt and Ysabel, the voyage into space is only the beginning. Brandt must learn to fight without a sword. Ysabel must master technology she can barely understand. Rowan, always the scholar and questioner, begins to uncover secrets buried within the ancient systems of Caelan's civilization.

And watching over them is Erydn, an ancient Aetherion guardian who exists in a strange union of flesh, consciousness and machine. As the Edos awakens around them, it becomes clear that Caelan's return has stirred more than forgotten memories. Ancient systems are beginning to recognize their king once again.

When Caelan reaches the ruins of his former home, the past comes alive.

The ancient Throne Spire recognizes his blood. Dormant systems awaken. Forgotten records reveal the terrible scale of the war that destroyed Aetherion. And the ruined empire's surviving loyalists answer the call of their lost king.

The Concord has survived.

But so has the enemy.

The Dominion is waiting, and it has spent years hunting Caelan. What begins as a mission to reclaim the remnants of his empire soon becomes a battle for the future of the galaxy.

As the old technology of Aetherion awakens, Rowan encounters another forgotten intelligence—Auralis, a fragmented consciousness buried within the ancient systems. Rather than commanding him, Auralis offers guidance, forcing Rowan to confront a question that may become just as important as the coming war: can a king be followed blindly, or must someone be willing to question him?

Soon the restored Concord prepares for war.

Caelan is no longer simply the mysterious knight who arrived on Earth.

Rowan, Brandt and Ysabel are no longer merely medieval warriors.

They have become commanders of the void.

And when the Dominion vanguard finally arrives, the last king of Aetherion must decide whether he is fighting to reclaim a throne—or to build something greater from the ashes of the civilization he once lost.

The stars have remembered their king.

Now they will learn what he has become.

The Knight of the Void has returned home.

And the throne is waiting.
