Before the legend, there was a child.

In postwar Spain, Marcos Rodríguez Pantoja was pushed into a life of hunger, hardship, and abandonment. In the wild mountains of Sierra Morena, he learned to survive far from ordinary human society—among caves, animals, and wolves that became part of his world.

But the wilderness was only the beginning.

This true story follows Marcos from a brutal childhood and years of isolation to the painful struggle of returning to human society. Drawing on research, testimony, and surviving evidence, Sebastian Karcz separates myth from fact while preserving the extraordinary human story at its heart.
