Seven months after taking over the territory, Thalric, Beta of the Southern Territory, is a warrior with a hollow heart, haunted by a connection that vanished before it could bloom. He has struggled silently with his loneliness- until a desperate encounter forces his path to cross with Echo, a Celestial on the run.

Echo is more than a refugee fleeing a ruthless enemy; she is a catalyst for a change that cannot be stopped. As a lethal toxin silently takes hold and an old enemy returns, Mordoc and Ziba find themselves suffocated by the Elders' relentless demands and the crushing weight of old laws.

With their authority crumbling from within and a cunning invader tightening the noose from without, the pack's very survival hangs in the balance. As the shadows close in, will they be able to stop the invader before it's too late?
