For nearly five centuries, Luther's Small Catechism has been a doorway into the Christian faith for millions of readers. Written in 1529 by the great reformer Martin Luther, it distills the essentials of belief and practice into five short, memorable parts: the Ten Commandments, the Apostles' Creed, the Lord's Prayer, and the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper. This new edition renders Luther's classic in clear, present-day English while preserving its directness, warmth, and spiritual seriousness. Here is the catechism as Luther intended it: not a dry theological treatise, but a living guide for daily prayer, household teaching, and honest faith. Whether you are new to the Christian tradition or returning to it, this little book speaks with a timeless simplicity that still has the power to instruct and comfort.
