For nearly five centuries, John Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion has stood as one of the most influential works of Christian theology ever written. This first book, The Knowledge of God the Creator, lays the foundation for everything that follows: it asks how we come to know God, why Scripture is necessary, what it means to call God Creator, and how divine providence governs every aspect of our lives. Written with remarkable clarity and urgency, Calvin's words have shaped generations of readers across the globe. This modern-English edition renders Calvin's sixteenth-century Latin into clear, inviting prose that preserves the force and warmth of the original. Whether you are a student of history, a seeker of wisdom, or a longtime reader of the Christian classics, this volume offers a faithful and accessible gateway to a foundational text of the Reformation.
