In 1666, from a prison cell in Lancaster Castle, Margaret Fell wrote one of the most daring works of spiritual advocacy ever penned. 'Women's Speaking Justified' is a Scripture-saturated defense of women's right to speak, preach, and prophesy in the church — written when such a claim was considered radical, even dangerous. This modern-English edition renders Fell's seventeenth-century prose into clear, present-day language while preserving the fire and faithfulness of the original. Readers will follow her through the prophets and the Gospels, from Miriam and Deborah to Mary Magdalene and Phoebe, and encounter her careful, compassionate readings of the very passages often used to silence women. Fell's argument is not merely historical; it speaks to enduring questions of spiritual authority, conscience, and calling. Whether you come as a student of history, a person of faith, or a seeker after justice, this edition invites you into a classic that changed the conversation about women and the Spirit.
