When Magpie Peters and his partner strike it rich enough to own a phonograph, a rough cabin on Plenty Stone Creek, and a talent for attracting trouble, life in the Montana hills gets a whole lot livelier. One moonlit night, a gigantic grizzly wanders into their cramped shack, and what follows is a riot of noise, panic, splintered furniture, flying flour, and pure frontier foolishness. But this isn't just a bear story. It's a wild, funny tale of mining-camp life, where hard luck and hard laughter go hand in hand, and where a man's best weapon may be his wits—or a phonograph playing at exactly the wrong moment. W. C. Tuttle brings the West to life with sharp-eyed humor, colorful dialogue, and the kind of tall-tale energy that turns disaster into legend. Magpie's Night-bear is a comic gem of the old mining frontier: rowdy, unpredictable, and full of the absurd charm that makes classic adventure stories unforgettable. If you enjoy rugged characters, outrageous situations, and Western humor with a mischievous twist, this story will have you grinning from the first page to the last.
