Antonio Colletti returns to his cousin Tom Romani's house with a crimson mask, a polished smile, and a murderous plan. Still consumed by jealousy over Nita Tosca's choice of Tom, he hides his hatred while hoping to destroy the couple and seize the family fortune. But the strange mask—warm, beautiful, and unnervingly alive in their hands—seems to awaken something darker than envy. As Tom and Nita prepare for a masquerade, the mask's influence appears to seep into Tom's mind, twisting affection into possessiveness and rage. Colletti departs confident that the mask, or a hidden poison if needed, will finish the job. By the time the party begins, dread has fully taken hold, and the evening hurtles toward disaster. In a final burst of horror, Tom's jealousy explodes into violence, and he fatally stabs Nita in blind fury. Colletti then reveals the cruelest part of his scheme: Tom will be left to bear the blame. Blending occult menace, psychological unraveling, and tragic love, this eerie tale ends in guilt, punishment, and devastation beneath the guise of a mask.
