It's almost midnight in an empty open-plan office, the fluorescent lights still humming as if personally offended by the hour. Marketing coordinator Mia and her colleague Ben have barricaded themselves against a brutal Friday deadline, sustained by cold coffee, half-eaten takeout, and a bottle of whiskey liberated from the creative director's drawer. For months they have been each other's sarcastic work spouses—finishing complaints, covering in meetings, and roasting the wasteland of modern dating like a competitive sport. Tonight the walls come down. One confession leads to another, and suddenly the mutual fantasies they have both been nursing in secret are out in the open. The solution they land on is simple, reckless, and irresistible: friends with benefits. Right here. Right now. What follows is a night of stripping, profile-roasting, and pure filthy synergy as two burned-out coworkers turn the conference table, the CEO's chair, and every scrap of corporate jargon into the hottest, most ridiculous arrangement of their careers. Sharp, funny, and unapologetically explicit, Friends with Benefits and a Very Hard Problem is a short, self-contained workplace erotic romance about two people who discover that the best way to survive a deadline from hell is to rewrite the employee handbook entirely.
