Fifteen years ago, on the night of their high school graduation, Marlowe Bennett and Sawyer Kessler buried a coffee can full of promises beneath the lighthouse at Widow's Point — and swore they'd come back together to dig it up, no matter where life took them.

Life took them very far apart.

Now Marlowe is the architect hired to save that same crumbling lighthouse before the Atlantic finishes what fifteen winters started. The contractor running the marine work? Sawyer — who never left Wren Harbor, who's been raising his late sister's daughter alone for three years, and who has spent a decade and a half wondering why the girl he loved simply stopped calling.

Neither of them planned on two months of forced proximity. Neither of them planned on the town's bicentennial landing on the exact fifteenth anniversary of a promise they never kept. And neither of them planned on falling for each other all over again while the truth about what really went wrong slowly rises to the surface — along with everything they buried the night they said goodbye.

Some things wash away with the tide. Some things wait, patient as a lighthouse, for someone to come back and dig them up.
