Thoughts of a Fool is a fierce, funny, and deeply subversive meditation on identity, authority, and the absurd ways society assigns value. Its narrator traces a mock-grand genealogy only to insist that foolishness is self-made, not inherited, then turns that same irreverence on respectability, exposing how every age praises as wisdom what it once condemned as rebellion. From there, the book widens into a blistering satire of expertise, taste, and moral language. It mocks authors, academics, critics, and specialists who claim authority while offering little more than inherited opinion, and it dismantles the slippery labels that turn thieves into bargain-makers, soldiers into respectable killers, or gossip into diplomacy. Biblical and historical figures such as Moses, Jesus, John Brown, Cromwell, and Washington are reimagined as provocateurs whose celebrated defiance reveals society's hypocrisy. At its core, this is a defiant philosophy of instinct over systems, freedom over pretension, and lived truth over abstract "rights."
